The International Laser Applications Symposium 2013

ILAS (Industrial Laser Application Symposium) is the UK's big biennial 2-day laser event for cutting edge applications and latest developments. Organized by the Association of Laser Users (AILU) it provides a great opportunity for those involved in the development and applications of Laser Materials Processing to present their work and showcase their products.

In 2013 we are catering for over 200 delegates from the UK and the international community of researchers and industrialists. On offer is a full programme of technical presentations, a business forum, an exhibition of equipment and services, and many networking opportunities.

Scope of presentations

  • State-of-the-art in LMP processes ranging from those already well established in industry through to new developments in support of advances in 21st Century manufacturing
  • LMP applications, from sub-micro to macro-scale, including collaborative research projects
  • State-of-the-art in laser sources and systems including laser beam modification and control, machine hardware and software, and auxiliary equipment
  • Topics for the business forum, including market forecasts, funding, support for R&D, business improvement, government policy on manufacturing, marketing and business models.

Who should attend?

Dramatic advances in laser technology mean that today’s industrial systems offer unparalleled capabilities in precision manufacturing and advanced materials processing from the macro to micro-scale, providing the flexibility and accuracy required for the manufacture of the products of tomorrow. Laser materials processing is a key technology for the mass-production of many components and is continually yielding new applications and processes. User industries from general engineering through to electronics, semiconductor and medical and solar – all benefit from the precision and power of the laser.

Whether driven by the quest for higher efficiency or from the desire for greater product functionality laser processing provides an increasingly cost-effective route. Staying abreast of the developments in these enabling technologies is key to maintaining a competitive edge.

ILAS 2013 primarily addresses the needs of industrial and academic researchers in the field of process and application developments in the manufacturing sector. As such if should be of great benefit to:

  • Senior managers, engineers and designers from all sections of manufacturing industry
  • UK researchers in academia and industry
  • Practitioners of laser materials processing and associated technologies at all levels of experience
  • Those providing products and/or services to the laser user community.

Opportunities abound to learn, to present work, meet others who share similar interests; enquire about jobs and products and services for sale, to market products and services and generally to network with the wider laser materials processing community; a community with interests in the application of lasers in sectors ranging from jewellery to aerospace and from microelectronics to automotive.

ILAS 2015: The Industrial Laser Applications Symposium

Providing an interface between industry and academia

ILAS is the biennial 2-day laser event that provides a unique opportunity for users, suppliers and researchers to explore recent advances in applications and processes and opportunities presented by laser materials processing (LMP). Organised by the Association of Industrial Laser Users, ILAS 2015 provides an ideal context for those actively involved in the LMP supply chain to present their work, showcase their products and services and to strengthen alliances with fellow researchers, users and suppliers of the technology.

Laser mailas2015 flyer frontterials processing is a key 21st Century manufacturing technology, one that is continually yielding new applications and processes. Sectors that benefit hugely from the precision and power of the laser stretch from general engineering through to electronics, semiconductor, medical and solar.

ILAS 2015 is strongly supported by many other organisations that share AILU’s keen interest in manufacturing and laser technology.
